NBCSN Events at the NASN Conference
Friday June 22, 2012 from 12:00pm -
4:30pm - Liaison Leadership Summit. If you are a current liaison
or have thought about becoming a liaison, this session is for you.
You will learn some leadership and marketing ideas to promote NBCSN
certification on the state level. There is limited room, so you must
fill out an application for the event and sign up to be a state
liaison. Lunch will be served at noon. Participants will be
awarded 3 contact hours to be used for NBCSN recertification as well as a
$100 stipend. Located in the Sierra H room of the San Francisco
Marriott Marquis. Please fill out the application
for both liaison (for those that are not current liaisons) and for the
summit.
Friday June 22, 2012 from 5:00pm -
6:00pm - Liaison Meeting. Open to all current liaisons and those
that are thinking about becoming a liaison. Located in the Sierra H room
of the San Francisco Marriott Marquis.
Friday June 22, 2012 from 6:30pm -
7:30pm - NBCSN Reception. Located in the Nob Hill B&C rooms
of the San Francisco Marriott Marquis.
Recognition Award - The NCSN Recognition Award is presented to a NCSN nominated by a peer for enhancing competency in school nursing and/or who has been instrumental in promoting national school nurse certification at the national, state and/or local levels. Nominees must be NCSNs in good standing and currently employed in school health. A letter of recommendation addressing the above criteria must be submitted with the application form below. Past and current Board members are not eligible for the Award.
The NBCSN Recognition Award is presented to individuals during the NCSN Reception during the annual NASN Conference.

& Applications Page, and mail to the NBCSN Board office no later
than April 30th..

School Nursing Certification
Professional Certification
provides an ongoing, quality credentialing process for eligible school
nurses. Certification assures a national standard of
preparation, knowledge, and practice.
The National Board for Certification
of School Nurses (NBCSN) endorses the concept of
voluntary certification by examination for all school nurses.
Professional certification in school nursing provides an ongoing,
quality credentialing process for eligible school nurses.
Certification represents a national standard of preparation, knowledge,
and practice. To assist with this recognition, the NBCSN provides
the opportunity for school nurses to set the standards for their
specialty area through voluntary professional certification.

Mission
The Mission of the National Board for
Certification of School Nurses, Inc. (NBCSN) is to advance the quality
of school health services (school nurse practice) by providing a
rigorous national, credentialing process to validate competency based on
professional standards.
Vision
National certification by the National Board for
Certification of School Nurses, Inc. (NBCSN) is widely recognized and
highly valued by providers, employers, and the public as the standard
of excellence for school health services.

Purpose
The NBCSN is organized to
operate for the purpose to:
- Develop, administer and evaluate a
certification process for school nurses;
- Develop and evaluate additional
mechanisms for professional competency assessment in school nursing;
- Assist in the enhancement and
communication of knowledge concerning professional testing and
competency assessment of school nurses; and
- Perform such other functions as may
be deemed consistent with the foregoing
